Youth: where are you going?
In a time where our community is experiencing various crises it is important for us to show that there is still a future for the EU in economic, cultural, political and environmental terms. The European week 2014 will be an opportunity to discuss and debate on this EU issue.

Does the EU provide an attractive future for its youth?
We are very pleased to welcome the founding Chairman of the non-profit civil society organization Confrontations Europe and adviser to the current European Commissioner for Internal Market and Services Michel Barnier, Philippe Herzog.
As a former EU deputy and author of his recent book 'Europe, wake up!', Philippe Herzog will address the issue of the future of the youth in the EU.

'Is the EU powerful enough to answer the environmental crisis?'
Connie Hedegaard, former Danish minister for the Environment, Climate and Energy and current EU commissioner for Climate Change Action, will come talk to us about the EU and the environmental issue.
Connie Hedegaard has been involved in the 2009 Copenhagen conference and the recent 2013 Warsaw conference on Climate Change organised by the United Nations.

With Europe facing a crisis, how is art affected and what are its future challenges?
Today’s crisis in Europe has not only one but various natures. It expresses itself at an economic but also social level and raises the issue of a European identity. Some of the main challenges to art and culture in the 21st century are firstly the euro-crisis and secondly the ‘digital age’.
We are very pleased to welcome the following speakers, who will address the challenges and consequences to art and culture in the 21st century:

'Are education programs (such as ERASMUS) or incentives in this field threatened by the crisis?'
In times of economic crisis, is it viable to further increase the budget for programs in education, training and youth and how long will national governments further support this? Yet, are not education and training of the Youth, especially in the context of crisis and mass unemployment, the safest investments in the future?
